This exhibition, the first-ever dedicated to a Latin American artist at the Gallery, marks the 200th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mexico and the UK, celebrating Velasco’s place among the great 19th-century landscape painters. As a botanist, geologist and artist, explore how Velasco documented the effects of 19th-century industrialisation, and see how the rush of modernity made its mark on the natural world.
