Descripción de la Exposición

The Portuguese artist duo João Maria Gusmão (*1979) and Pedro Paiva (*1977) has created a fascinating oeuvre since 2001. In their films, sculptures and photographs they capture the magical moments of everyday scenes and casual gestures. They are poetic and philosophical observations of the world, fictions anchored in reality, which the artists have caught on camera and secured on celluloid or photographic paper. The short film sequences without sound are played on rattling projectors and are reminiscent of the aesthetics of the silent films of the 1920s or of early experimental films. The solo exhibition in the Aargauer Kunsthaus focuses on new works that were created during a stay in Japan.
