Descripción de la Exposición

The exhibition at Galeria Vera Cortês marks the return of the Brazilian duo Angela Detanico / Rafael Lain to Portugal and is an opportunity to discover their practice and the central series in their body of work. Having been nominated for the Prix Marcel Duchamp in 2024, represented Brazil at the Venice Biennale in 2007 and presented solo exhibitions at Palazzo Vecchio, Jeu de Palme and Museu Coleção Berardo, the Paris-based artists continue to question the role of language and its symbolic and physical place in our society in this exhibition. At the Vera Cortês Gallery, Detanico/Lain present ‘Jardim Infinito’ with three distinct series in which language reveals its dual function as a communication tool and an instrument for reading and questioning different cultures. Oscillating between rudimentary and advanced technology, their pieces take on forms as diverse as text, image, animation, sound and installation.
