Jana Farmanová (1970 Nitra, Slovakia)
In her second solo exhibition at Kubikgallery, Jana Farmanová selected a group of pieces linked by a language that is so close to her, in a speech very feminine and very embracing, where she portrays the private space, the gestures, the bonds, the emotions that being so familiar and particular, are common to us all.
Always with a distinctive figurative feature that is common among her artistic production, her paintings develop around a main character which is the matter of attention. However, a closer look makes us realize that the hero of her paintings is, in fact, the spectator. The observer is expected to create a connection with the paintings and it is him/her who reveals his/her reflections after the stimulus that Jana Farmanova’s works arouse.
In Attention! Fragile, the Slovak artist calls the attention to the fragility of the human being, to the weakness of our condition, in which a simple gesture, or a memory have the ability to damage our inherent weakness, as if we were objects.
Jana Farmanová is represented in several public and private collections, amongst which we can highlight the Würth Collection, Germany, and the Linea Collection, Slovakia.
