Descripción de la Exposición
Galerie Nordenhake Mexico City is pleased to present a new exhibition of bronze sculptures by Jacques Lipchitz (Lithuania, 1891 - Italy, 1973) in dialogue with works by ektor garcia (USA, 1985).
Jacques Lipchitz was one of the key figures of Cubist sculpture in the 20th century. Inspired by the painterly cubism of artists such as Picasso and Braque, Lipchitz brought these principles into three dimensions, fragmenting and rearranging forms to create dynamic, abstract compositions.
His artistic evolution led him from strict geometry to more fluid and expressive forms, especially in his late period when he explored mythological and humanist themes. His knowledge of bronze and stone allowed him to experiment with balance, emptiness and movement, challenging the traditional solidity of sculpture.
ektor garcia is a multidisciplinary artist who approaches sculpture through extensive experimentation with craft techniques and materials. Throughout his practice, he has developed a lexicon of crochet, traditional weaving, and fiber work, combined with the use of ceramics, metal, leatherwork, and found materials, which he often combines in his installations.
