Descripción de la Exposición

The Fundación Pablo Atchugarry Miami presents an introductory exhibition celebrating The Atchugarry Museum of Contemporary Art, MACA, ahead of its inaugural opening on January 8th, 2022, in the coastal resort town of Punta del Este, Uruguay. Renowned Uruguayan sculptor Pablo Atchugarry constructs Uruguay’s first contemporary art museum, completing a program of institutions realized by the Foundation that bears his name, Fundación Pablo Atchugarry. The Fundación Pablo Atchugarry in Miami is delighted to present an introductory exhibition in honor of the inauguration of The Atchugarry Museum of Contemporary Art, MACA, slated to open in Punta del Este, Uruguay in January 2022. The first and only museum in Uruguay promoting global contemporary art, MACA, concludes a sequence of structures realized by internationally acclaimed sculptor, Pablo Atchugarry. The museum permanently houses the Atchugarry collection that includes more than fifty works by Latin American and European artists, including Julio Le Parc, Carlos Cruz Diez, Joaquín Torres García, Ernesto Neto and Camilo Arden Quin, among others. Spanning across 90 acres of natural landscape, the museum hopes to become a creative hub for its community, where so many artists have left a permanent mark in the history of art. Pablo Atchugarry is renowned for his monumental public sculptures that contemplate the grandiosity of nature and its unstoppable strength. He currently lives and works between Uruguay and Italy, where he oversees the development of the Fundación Pablo Atchugarry, the international monumental Sculpture Park, and now, the Atchugarry Museum of Contemporary Art (MACA). His sculptures are part of numerous private and public collections such as the Fundació Fran Daurel in Barcelona, Spain; the Bellinson Center in Petah Tikva, Israel; the Museu Coleção Berardo in Portugal and the Collezione Fontana in Italy among others. Introducing MACA, will feature a combination of architectural drawings, renderings and photographs, in addition, highlight a selection of artists included in its permanent collection with 2D and 3D works on view by José Pedro Costigliolo, Maria Freire, Ignacio Iturria, Marco Maggi, Tulio Pinto, Luis Tomasello, and MACA creator, Pablo Atchugarry. Designed by the world renowned architect Carlos Ott, Introducing MACA, will also feature behind-the-scenes footage that delves into the making of the museum and its two-year long construction process. What began as a dream many years ago for Atchugarry is now nearing its final stage of construction and growing thanks to the generosity of the artists and friends of the museum. "MACA is the cultural heritage that I leave for Uruguay" –Pablo Atchugarry Fundación Pablo Atchugarry is a non profit institution, founded in Manantiales, Uruguay in 2007 by the sculptor Pablo Atchugarry. In December 2018, the Fundación Pablo Atchugarry opened its second location, in a space adjacent to the Piero Atchugarry Gallery, in the neighborhood of Little Haiti, in Miami, FL, located near Miami’s Design District. The exhibition program combines both contemporary and modern art, to bring a refreshing look at art history and to foster an understanding of how art movements can influence each other through time and space.
