Descripción de la Exposición

Internal Fabrication is the first institutional solo exhibition of Jaime Welsh (b. 1994, Lisbon), at Galeria Municipal de Arte de Almada. There is something disconcerting about Jaime Welsh's photographs. Something that subtly infiltrates the subconscious of those who look at them and suddenly becomes inescapable. We feel a danger, an anxiety, or perhaps just an uneasiness before his perfectly balanced, beautiful, symmetrical and staged images. They propose a convergence between fiction and reality that destabilizes interpretations and, at the same time, carry within them a psychological dimension that is almost palpable. His images challenge our experience as spectators. The simulated neutrality, the appearance of normality, give way to anxiety, as if something sinister was about to happen the moment after the image was captured.
