Descripción de la Exposición
Danielle Arnaud announces Ichor, a three-person show bringing together the work of Robert Cervera, Katarina Hruskova and Alix Marie. Considering the collaborative exhibition and its contained ecosystem as a frame narrative, the works question the porosity of living bodies, objects, products and informations.
Robert Cervera's work explores materiality and our relationship with it. The one-to-one physical encounter between our body and the work is paired with a reassessment of the nature and behaviour of the materials used, which seem to defy their assumed roles and taxonomies. A recurring interest is the dialogue between the molecular and the molar: formlessness and flow entering a dialogue with form, structure and systems. Robert studied for an MA in Sculpture at the Royal College, London (2012-2014) and Postgraduate Diploma in Fine Art at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts, London (2010-2011). Recent exhibitions include: The Spring Exhibition 2016, Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Copenhagen; Rare Collisions of Purpose, Boetzelaer|Nispen, Amsterdam; The things we make, make us, Space in Between at Eton College, Windsor; Re:Pro, OK Corral, Copenhagen; Stuart Barnes, Robert Cervera, Tom Owen, Studio 1.1, London; Tara has no rooms inside, Unit 1, London. Robert Cervera won the 2014 Kenneth Armitage Young Sculptor Prize for his MA degree show at the Royal College of Art, London.
Katarina Hruskova utilises the written and spoken word to inhabit mundane objects, materials and environments. Through poems, performative readings and audio still lives, she reanimates the vocabularies of her subjects. She likes to wield information that has been forgotten, or has descended below the line of 'important' or 'necessary'.
Katarina studied at the Royal College of Art in London (MA Photography, 2013) and the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam (BA, 2010). Recent performances and exhibitions include: My Back is All Around Me, a performance accompanying Left Hand To Back Of Head, Object Held Against Right Thigh, The Bluecoat, Liverpool; The Edge is A Surface, Galerie Off/format, Brno, Czech Republic; Export, Galeria Krokus, Bratislava, Slovakia; Tara has no rooms inside, Unit 1, London; Echo, The Function Room, London. Recent residencies include: Residenza Petrolio (Italy) awarded by AMT Gallery, Bratislava and Brooklyn Langer Residency (NY) awarded by Banska St a nica Contemporary, Banska Stiavnica. In 2014 she was shortlisted for the Nina Stewart Artist Residency at South London Gallery, London.
Alix Marie is a French artist based in London working across photography, sculpture and installation. Her work explores our relationship to bodies and its representation through processes of fragmentation, objectification or accumulation. While looking at the similarities between the surface of skin and the surface of prints her work relates issues as the abject, the visceral and femininity. She has exhibited internationally since 2010 and been awarded artist residencies in Iceland (2012), Slovenia (2012), Scotland (2013 & 2014) and Morocco (2013). She graduated in 2014 from MA Photography at the Royal College of Art, London, and in 2011 from Central Saint Martins College, London, with a First Class Honours Bachelor of Fine Art. In 2015 she took part in a residency at The Victoria and Albert Museum and she is currently working on a book with French publisher RVB Books.
