Descripción de la Exposición

I, Of Whom I Know Nothing will be screened daily at SBC Gallery of Contemporary Art from November 25 - 29 at 11:30am, 1:30pm and 3:30pm. Pablo Sigg’s I, Of Whom I Know Nothing was filmed during the autumn and winter of 2012 and 2013 at John Calder's home in Montreuil. Calder – Samuel Beckett's London publisher, collaborator and close friend – decided to move to Montreuil, outside Paris, to live in what once was the office and basement of an 8-storey apartment building constructed after the War. The film witnesses Calder's very particular domestic life, as well as his journey to London to visit legendary Beckett actress, Billie Whitelaw, at the old people's home for performing artists in Northwood, Middlesex. Sigg’s film is a slow consideration of intermingled lives and of the process of aging, a portrait of Beckett, Calder and Whitelaw’s individual and overlapping stories. The film adopts a decidedly somber and graceful tone, offering the viewer a glimpse into the private lives of these individuals in retreat. Pablo Sigg’s I, Of Whom I Know Nothing was an official selection of the international competition at the Marseille International Film Festival in 2014, where it received a special mention. Pablo Sigg is a Mexican filmmaker (1974) who lives and works in Mexico City. He has presented his work at the New Museum of Contemporary Art (2013), the Musée dʼArt Moderne de la Ville de Paris (2012), and at ltd los angeles (2011) among others. Pablo Sigg’s exhibition is presented as part of SBC’s 2012-2014 focus program on Sovereignty.
