Córtex Frontal - Residências e Oficinas launches this open call to participation in the project HYPERTEXTILE - “Network of Textile Art residencies for visual artists and designers ”, in Arraiolos, Guimarães and Mértola (Portugal)
ABOUT
HYPERTEXTILE is the continuation of the project Wireless that took place in Arraiolos in 2022. It is a cycle of 6 thematic artist residencies of two weeks each aimed to visual artists and designers interested in learning or deepening knowledge on: Embroidery, Weaving, Dyeing, Textile Stamping, Guimarães Embroidery and Weaving (Mértola).
A selection of works will be exhibited in a traveling exhibition in Beja and Guimarães in December 2025 and May 2026 curated by Antonia Gaeta.

8-21 July 2024 in Arraiolos;
H#3 Dyeing Residency
22 July-4 August 2024 in Arraiolos;
H#4 Stamping Residency
2-15 September 2024 in Arraiolos and Évora (In partnership with Evora School of Arts);
H#5 Guimarães Embroidery Residency
1-15 October 2024 in Guimarães (In partnership with CAAA-Centre for Art and Architecture Affairs of Guimarães);
H#6 Weaving Residency
17-31 October 2024 in Mértola (In partnership with Oficina de Tecelagem de Mértola).
WHO CAN APPLY?
Visual artists and designers of any age and nationality who show a significant interest in learning or deepening knowledge in textile techniques in order to potentially embody it in their practice.
Applicants can participate in one residency but can show interest in a maximum of three.
BENEFITS
Participant will receive accommodation and work space, transport support (for trips inside Portugal), participation and materials for the workshops, critical follow up of the projects.
