Descripción de la Exposición
San Francisco, CA (October 6, 2021)—The eighth edition of FOG Design+Art will take place January 20–23, 2022 at Fort Mason Center for Arts and Culture in San Francisco. The fair will open with a Preview Gala on Wednesday, January 19 benefitting the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art’s (SFMOMA) education and exhibitions program. The fair returns after being postponed last year due to COVID-19.
The 2022 fair will feature 45 galleries, including major leaders in the fields of art and design from around the world, such as David Gill Gallery (London), David Zwirner, (New York), Hauser & Wirth (Los Angeles), kurimanzutto (Mexico City), Marian Goodman Gallery (New York), and R & Company (New York), as well as a diverse mix of both new and returning galleries from the Bay Area. FOG will also feature ten galleries participating for the first time: Alexander Berggruen (New York), CULT Aimee Friberg Exhibitions (San Francisco), Friends Indeed (San Francisco), Michael Rosenfeld (New York), Nina Johnson (Miami), pt. 2 Gallery (Oakland), Rebecca Camacho Presents (San Francisco), RYAN LEE (New York), Talwar Gallery (New York), and White Cube (London). The fair will be co-chaired by philanthropists and collectors Wayee Chu and Ethan Beard.
Pioneering musician Linda Ronstadt will be honored at the Innovators Luncheon on Saturday, January 22, an annual event celebrating those who have made transformative contributions to their field. Ms. Ronstadt is arguably the most versatile vocalist of the modern era with a four decade career of mastering endless genres of music; Rock and Roll, Country, Jazz, Light Opera, Big Band, Broadway, Mexican and Afro-Cuban. Her rare talent has earned her a multitude of awards and honors including 12 Grammy Awards, the Grammy Lifetime achievement award, 31 Gold and Platinum records with a world wide sales of over 50 million albums. She is the only performing artist in history to have had five consecutive number one albums. She was presented the National Medal of Arts by President Obama, inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and awarded the Kennedy Center Honors in 2019. Linda Ronstadt is the consummate American artist and innovator.
FOG 2022 will also feature a series of conversations in the FOG Theater at Fort Mason Center that are included with admission to the fair. The programming brings together leaders in the field of art, design, and technology to discuss some of today’s most relevant and pressing issues. The fair was initially conceived of, and is overseen by a steering committee of individuals who champion art and design in the Bay Area: Douglas Durkin, Stanlee Gatti, Katie Paige, Sarah Wendell Sherrill, Allison Speer, and Susan Swig. Gatti’s iconic installation 21POP will return to the fair’s entryway.
“We are thrilled to come back to Fort Mason after a year's pause due to the pandemic,” said steering committee member and co-founder of Lobus, an art equity management platform, Sarah Wendell Sherrill. “FOG is a vital part of the San Francisco cultural landscape which is coming back stronger than ever. This year, FOG will convene today's leaders from the world's top galleries, dealers, curators, art enthusiasts, and visionary artists including our incredible honoree at the Innovators Luncheon, Linda Ronstadt. It could not be a more exciting time for San Francisco, the home of creativity and innovation.”
FOG’s mission is to create a dialogue about the relationship between art and design, and to provide a platform for the Bay Area community, as well as an international host of curators, collectors, and art world enthusiasts, to experience works of contemporary art and design by some of the most celebrated dealers of 20th-century and contemporary work.
Building on FOG’s longstanding commitment to SFMOMA, the Preview Gala and Innovators Luncheon support SFMOMA’s exhibitions and education programs, while FOG Forum specifically raises funds for the museum’s Architecture and Design department.
Strict protocols for COVID-19 safety, informed by the city of San Francisco, the state of California, and the Center for Disease Control, will be followed.
