Descripción de la Exposición
The exhibition explores the artist's relationship with ancestry, the land, and human existence, featuring drawings, paintings, film performances, and installations, much of which has never been shown in Brazil before. The exhibition will run at CCBB Rio de Janeiro until June 2, after which it will travel to Belo Horizonte and Brasília.
The title “Finca-pé: estórias da terra" evokes the act of firmly planting one’s feet on the ground, symbolizing resistance, stability, and a deep connection to the land. "Finca-pé" reflects the persistence and rootedness that define both cultural identity and historical narratives, while "estórias da terra" ("Tales from the land") highlights the personal and collective stories emerging from this relationship.
In Obá's words, "The exhibition stems from a clue related to being on the land. And when I say being on the land, I mean this geographical locus, the Cerrado, this hinterland where I come from, and the aesthetic potential that reverberates in my works and research."
On March 12 at 5pm, Antonio Obá will take part in a conversation with curator Fabiana Lopes about the exhibition.
