Descripción de la Exposición

Exhibition as Image focuses on the role exhibition documentation plays within artistic practice, exhibition making, and criticism. With the advent of increased public visibility, the homogenization of documentation has typically flattened exhibitions into images. As such, this group show re-frames how art is seen through images by artists who have documented exhibitions or who take the documentation of art as a basis for their own work by creating counterpoints to processes of standardization. These range from uses of changing lens-based media wherein the recorder is an active component in the work, to, more recently, depictions of art’s image as most commonly seen through the screen rather than in physical space.
