We have the pleasure to announce our next opening 'Angela Bulloch: euclid in europe'.
Even though Angela Bulloch's work spans many forms, its specific interest in systems, patterns and rules, and the creative territory between mathematics and aesthetics, is always present and coherent.
Bulloch graduated from Goldsmiths' College in 1988 and was part of the 'freeze' generation of Young British Artists (YBA).
Her work acquired identity in a number of distinct but related strands. The 'pixel boxes' have become Bulloch's most iconic pieces.
Alongside these pixel box sculptures, Bulloch has also returned to the 'Drawing Machines' she made early in her career. These pieces bring together the modernist concerns of the grid, monochrome, and colour field with a playful engagement with interactivity.
More recently Bulloch has created electronic simulations of the night sky. This series began with her installation at the Guggenheim Museum in New York for the exhibition theanyspacewhatever in 2008....
