Descripción de la Exposición
El Mito Vacío by Chilean Mario Gómez
Saturday, November 10th | 6-9pm
Through a deep technical exploration, the art of Mario Gómez deals with the problems of color and material as agents of their own narrative, devoid of guidelines that could possibly limit the purpose of the silent individuals inhabiting his landscapes. In his artwork persists the seeking of great spaces —sometimes wide open to the very infinity, and sometimes crashing into big textured walls— that work as a framed holder of a wide variety of pictoric situations and saturated ambiences that unveil the successive practical investigation as the methodic approach of the artist. The tension resides in the counterpoint of the ecstatic monumentality of hybrid beings (between person, paper and ornament) that reign those spaces and the presence, often barely noticeable, of small human individuals in permanent interaction with the many objects with which Gómez garnishes his worlds. This permanent communication shows a special (nearly emotional) care for the emphasis on the establishment of a hierarchy within a scene in which the real and fantastic compete. The truth is that in spite of the heterogeneity of its elements and beneath its many brushstrokes his painting always reveals the thematic axis of his cosmogony: The man-woman as beginning and end of his creation.
