Descripción de la Exposición In the autumn of 2011, the Mauritshuis will be host to a number of modern masters. Paintings by artists such as Salvador Dalí, Claude Monet and Francis Bacon are coming to the museum. These modern works will be paired with old masters from the Mauritshuis, creating a stimulating display of surprising combinations. These pairs of paintings will demonstrate how painters from different eras grappled with the same artistic problems: How do you arrange a composition to best advantage over your painting surface? How do you capture the hubbub of a town? How do you depict heartfelt sorrow? Carel Blotkamp, Professor Emeritus of Modern Art at the Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam will be guest curator of the exhibition. The paintings are all being lent by Dutch collections.
