Descripción de la Exposición
Creativity and courage. Conquest and style. Surfing as well as skateboarding is a combination of physical and creative elements. The interaction of the sport with art, design, film and music creates a dynamic, constantly moving culture. The roots of skateboarding lies in the drop-out mentality of the surfing scene in California of the 50s and 60s. As a consequence aspects of subculture remain until today in the thematic focus of both linked cultures.
The appropriation of the public space plays an essential role for skate-boarding, while surfers conquer landscapes and open space. Through this originates a structural relationship to aspects of free art – above all to Urban Art and photography.
