La pintura es una cosa mental y lo mental es divino; de ahí que lo que observamos sea solamente un límite imposible de decir. Las dimensiones espirituales vinculadas a una concepción mitológica de la humanidad y a la poesía articulan la propuesta de Lucía Vidales (Ciudad de México, 1986) que trasciende a las posibles narrativas sugeridas de sus cuadros. Las sombras de los cuerpos de Lucía son la sombra de la propia historia de la pintura; sus rasgos formales y fenomenológicos, su color, su textura y su expresión están ligados a la dimensión corporal.
De tal modo la pintura de Lucía es más cercana al icónudolos donde se manifiesta la presencia de Dios, más que de la abstracción o la caricatura: es espectral, es...sombra de la verdad: recuerdos colectivos y sociales que se plasman en la construcción de color, de tonalidades y el proceso de hacerla también, de pintar, despintar.
Es por eso que Vidales desdibuja la frontera dogmática entre painting (pintura) y picture (imagen) que el expresionismo abstracto había desarticulado en búsqueda de un lenguaje imperialista, y que Vidales recupera a través del peso de la plasticidad y de crear imagen sin espectáculo, desgarrando la narrativa moderna articulada desde una complejidad psicológica para anclar posicionamientos metafísicos al generar una representación de lo monstruoso que puede ser todo.

Al platicar con Lucía Vidales sobre pintura, surge una conversación sobre el tiempo. Para la imaginación que navega en esta conversación, todo está de alguna manera sujeto al dilema temporal, a una fuente inagotable de relatos y de sedimentaciones que acompañan al ojo de la pintura. Es difícil hablar de este tiempo: de él viene un conducto entre cadáveres y apariciones, pero también viene el deseo de tratar al mundo, al arte, como un cuerpo vivo, o viviente, a merced de sistemas circulatorios y digestivos. En este tiempo están el instante más cruel y la única forma de consuelo, la vía de la erosión y de la acumulación; el origen de historias sobre humanos hambrientos de fantasmas y sobre la guerra entre todas las partes de todos los cuerpos.
Este tiempo, que es también el paso de la pintura y sus fuerzas, ocurre en dimensiones a la vez desmedidas y extremadamente discretas: compactos laberintos de neblina, incendios diminutos e instantáneos que consumen sólo al cigarro y la luz remanente de cuerpos a los que debido a Lucía, les ha de faltar ya todo, menos la sombra.

Painting is a mental excercise and the mental is divine; hence, what we observe is only an impossible limit of saying. The spiritual dimensions linked to a mythological conception of humanity and to poetry articulate the proposal of Lucía Vidales (Mexico City, 1986) that transcends the possible suggested narratives of her paintings. The shadows of Lucia's bodies are the shadow of the history of painting itself; its formal and phenomenological features, its color, texture and expression, are linked to the body dimension.
In this way, Lucia's painting is closer to the iconoclasts where the presence of God is manifested, more than to abstraction or caricature: it is spectral, it is a shadow of truth: collective and social memories that are reflected in the construction of color, of tonalities and the process of making it also to paint, unpaint.
That is why Vidales blurs the dogmatic frontier between painting and picture that abstract expressionism had disarticulated in search of an imperialist language and that Vidales recovers through the weight of plasticity and creating image without show, tearing apart the modern narrative articulated from a psychological complexity to anchor metaphysical positions by generating a representation of the monstrous that can be everything.

When talking to Lucia Vidales about painting, a conversation about time arises. For the imagination that navigates this conversation, everything is in some way subject to the temporal dilemma, to an inexhaustible source of stories and sedimentations that accompany the eye of the painting. It is difficult to talk about this time: from it, comes a conduit between corpses and apparitions, but there is also the desire to treat the world, art, as a living, or living body, at the mercy of circulatory and digestive systems. In this time, there is the cruelest moment and the only form of consolation, the path of erosion and accumulation; the origin of stories about humans hungry for ghosts and about war between all parts of all bodies.
This time, which is also the passage of painting and its forces, takes place in dimensions that are both excessive and extremely discrete: compact mist labyrinths, minute and instantaneous fires that consume only the cigarette and the remaining light of bodies to which Lucia, they must miss everything, except the shadow.
