Descripción de la Exposición
ARTPORT_making waves is pleased to present an anthology of the video series Cool Stories for When The Planet Gets Hot as part of LANDMARK, an exhibition of artist commissions and projects that transform the land both physically and symbolically, marking Socrates Sculpture Park’s 30th anniversary.
Compiled from ARTPORT_making waves' biennial competitions of art videos that address climate change, these stories link the park’s local plot of land to the global dialogue surrounding climate change, stewardship and sustainability. The screenings will take place daily in a shipping container inside the park.
Artists: Rob Carter, Baptist Coelho, Celeste Fichter, Joshua Frankel, Richard Jochum, Danushka Marasinghe, Tricia McLaughlin, Christian Niccoli, Iván Puig Domene, Avelino Sala, Sergio Sotomayor.
Launched in 2007 by ARTPORT_making waves, artists from all over the world have been invited to participate in the biennial Cool Stories for When The Planet Gets Hot competitions to explore climate change through evocative short videos. The finalists' works from each competition have been compiled in four special editions, which have been shown at prestigious museums, art fairs, film festivals, universities, and climate change conferences worldwide. The final winners were offered artists residencies. Exhibitions, talks, and educational programs have been held in conjunction with the screenings.
ARTPORT_making waves is an international arts organization that raises awareness about environmental issues with a focus on climate change through arts exhibitions, video projects, residency programs, advisory and educational programs as well as collaborations linking the arts, science, and politics with the aim to inspire social change.
