Descripción de la Exposición

The Diamond's Shadow constitutes the self-referential exhibition of the Cuban artist Carlos Quintana. The selection of paintings becomes the intellectual radiography of his work. His moods have been explored by the strength of colors in fantastical stories of his unconscious. Sleep, wakefulness and hallucination represent in his poetics the Freudian searches of his referential universe: where perversion and the forbidden are exacerbated. Then his hybrid characters appear, in distorted situations, in connections between scenes of art history and everyday passages, as well as in self-portraits of extreme sincerity. Quintana does not differentiate the boundaries between reality and imagination in his paintings and that is the basis for his self-definition, as Rimbaud would say: "Je est un autre". The show will be composed of large and medium format pieces and small portraits.
