Descripción de la Exposición

FotoFest International is pleased to announce the participating artists featured in its 16th International Biennial of Photography and Mixed Media Arts, taking place March 12 to April 24, 2016 in Houston, Texas. The work of these 34 leading international artists will comprise the central exhibitions of the 2016 Biennial, exploring the Biennial theme, CHANGING CIRCUMSTANCES: Looking at the Future of the Planet. The exhibitions and associated programs for CHANGING CIRCUMSTANCES examine the dynamics of change and the potential for creative action, as seen through the work of exhibiting artists, participating scholars, and environmental thinkers. The artists in CHANGING CIRCUMSTANCES: Looking at the Future of the Planet come from nine different countries across Europe, Asia and North and South America. Many of the artists will travel to Houston to participate in lectures, tours, and other programs during the Biennial. FotoFest's CHANGING CIRCUMSTANCES exhibitions are accompanied by six weeks of associated programming, including forums and dialogues on the relationship of human society and the environment. The programs include artist talks and video presentations, film programs, concerts, artist-curator exhibition tours, and the Literacy Through Photography (LTP) education program that provides a free special school curriculum for students in grades 3 through 12, developed in relation to the Biennial theme. FotoFest is partnering with a number of arts and cultural groups including Ballroom Marfa, Texas, and the Public Concern Foundation, who will collaborate to present Marfa Dialogues/Houston, March 24–26, 2016. Accompanying FotoFest's central exhibition, over 100 independently organized exhibitions at venues across the city will be part of the FotoFest 2016 Biennial. For the Biennial, a hardcover book is being produced that focuses on the environment and the ways in which international artists are addressing the impact of human society on the planet. The volume will feature essays by scholars and art experts alongside artist statements and extensive color reproductions of exhibited works. A separate Biennial catalogue will also be available in March 2016. Additional events being sponsored by FotoFest include the Evenings with the Artists open portfolio nights, artist-curator dialogues, book signings and other programming—as well as the FotoFest International Fine Print Auction, held on March 21, 2016, which presents 60 artworks, including works from North and South America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
