(6-VIII-2024) Arte Laguna Prize anuncia la ampliación del plazo de su convocatoria para artistas y diseñadores, así como un nuevo Premio Especial en colaboración con VeGAL, el 18º para esta edición. Arte Laguna Prize es un concurso de Arte Contemporáneo con sede en Venecia y está abierto a artistas emergentes, sin restricciones de edad, género, nacionalidad y formación artística, y el tema es libre. Las técnicas admitidas son: pintura, escultura e instalación, arte fotográfico, videoarte y cortometrajes, performances y actuación, arte digital, gráfica digital y dibujos animados, environmental y land art, arte urbano y street art, diseño artístico.

Arte Laguna Prize es un concurso de arte contemporáneo que acoge a artistas de todas las edades, nacionalidades y procedencias artísticas, sin distinción de género y con temática libre. El concurso ofrece numerosas oportunidades a los artistas participantes para ampliar su red de contactos, ganar visibilidad internacional y acceder a valiosos recursos para el desarrollo de su carrera.
Contando con 18 años de historia, Arte Laguna Prize ofrece a los artistas la oportunidad de:
• exponer en Venecia (Italia) en el Arsenale Nord;
• ganar un premio en dinero de €10,000 ;
• formar parte de una amplia red internacional de colaboraciones en el marco de los Premios Especiales;

El Premio está abierto a las siguientes disciplinas artísticas: pintura, escultura e instalación, fotografía, videoarte y cortometrajes, performance y actuación (teatral y cinematográfica), arte digital, arte digital y dibujo animado, arte medioambiental y del territorio, arte urbano y callejero, diseño.

ART. 1 – GOALS
The Cultural Association MoCA, organizes the 19th Edition of Arte Laguna Prize, International Award aimed at promoting and enhancing Contemporary Art.
The Prize is organized annually with the patronage of the the Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Collaboration, the Ministry of Ecological Transition, the Veneto Region, the Municipality of Venice, Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, Ca’ Foscari University, Confcommercio Treviso, Confindustria Veneto Est; it obtained a medal from the President of the Italian Republic and recognition by important members of the Advisory Council.
The contest features collaborations with international art galleries, companies, art residencies and festivals with inclusion into the web portal Arte Laguna World and the participation in the finalists collective exhibition at the Arsenale Nord of Venice, Italy.
ART. 2 – TECHNIQUES
The Prize is open to everyone, with no restrictions of age, gender, nationality or any other qualifications. Each artist can participate by submitting a portfolio of artworks that may have been previously exhibited. The theme is free. Below are the techniques admitted to the competition and the maximum dimensions to be respected:
Painting
works made with technical and stylistic freedom (oil, tempera, acrylic, ink, vinyl, watercolor, graphite, pencil, collage, aquatint, etching and prints of different kind, etc.) on any support (canvas, paper, wood, plastics, iron, etc.). The maximum size allowed is 175 cm per side.
Sculpture and Installation
works created with any organic or inorganic material, which may include sounds, lights, videos and mechanical or electrical movements. The maximum size allowed is: base 4 meters, depth 4 meters, height 8 meters and there is no weight limit. The exhibition space does not have dark spaces.
Photographic Art
photographs or series of photographs on analog or digital support, colored or black and white photographs. The maximum size allowed is 175 cm per side.
Video Art and Short films
Video, film, slow motion, time-lapse, and works created using all animation techniques on both digital and analog mediums, including short films, promotional videos, and computer graphics are accepted. Multi-channel works are not accepted. Maximum duration is 15 minutes. For submission, the video file must be uploaded online and not exceed 500 MB. Finalist works will be exhibited on a TV screen in a loop.
Performance and Acting (Stage and video)
Performances realized by one or more artists using any technique and expressive form, with the assistance of any supporting material provided by the artist, are accepted. Finalist artists will perform during the inauguration evening or the following days, presenting a performance version not exceeding 10 minutes. The materials necessary for the performance are the responsibility of the finalist artists. Monologues or scenes up to 10 minutes in any language (with English translation) from any type of theatrical performance or audiovisual work by one or more artists, in any acting style, genre, or technique, are also accepted.
Virtual and Digital Art
works entirely created using the computer or digital applications and devices: videos, installations, performances in which the use of digital media plays a key role in the creative process and content; net art, software, interactive devices, videogames, augmented reality projects, rapid prototyping, etc. Additive Art, Bio Art, Data Art, Digital Communities, Digital Performances, Digital Poetry, Game Art, Generative art & Algorithmic Art, Mobile Art & App Art, Net Art, Electronic Art, Robotics Art, XR Art, Blockchain & NFT Art, Metaverse Art, GAN Art & OpenAI Art, Chrypto Art. Works that requires an installation must be adaptable to the available exhibition space.
Digital Graphics and Cartoon
Images and works generated or modified using a computer, tablet, smartphone, or applications including Digital Painting, GIF Art, Digital Animation, Infographic Art, Glitch Art, where technological intervention is predominant, are included. This encompasses digital painting, cartoons, comics, GIFs, and photographs where manipulation is predominant. Finalist works will be exhibited on a monitor or printed on a two-dimensional support with a maximum size of 175 cm per side.
Environmental / Land Art
Artworks or projects of environmental and landscape art where the artistic intervention interacts with the environment for which it was designed. There are no limitations on the choice of specific environment. The works and projects presented concern nature and its characteristics and more generally the environment or landscape in which they are located. Finalist works will be exhibited on explanatory panels.
Urban Art and Street Art
Works or projects of urban art, redevelopment, street art, graffiti, and stencil art where the artistic intervention relates to the urban fabric and public space in which it is conceived and may involve the use of any technique (spray cans, artistic stickers, normographic art, video projections, installations, etc.). There are no limitations on the choice of intervention location. Finalist works will be displayed on explanatory panels.
Art Design
Productions originating in the artistic sphere and finding application in the world of design. Works, products, projects where artistic influence and inspiration are evident. Finalists must present the product or a full-scale or scaled-down prototype based on the exhibition choices of the organization.
*The material necessary for the realization and staging of the finalist works at the Arsenale Nord of Venice is the responsibility of the artists.
ART. 3 – JURY
Works applied will be evaluated by an international jury which will select finalist artists and designers who will exhibit in Venice at Arsenale Nord.

ART. 4 – PRIZES
INSTITUTIONAL PRIZES
1 cash prize of 10.000 €*
*By law, on all the money prizes a withholding of 25% will be required.
Free publication on the web portal artelaguna.world
Each artist has free online visibility on the international portal Arte Laguna World, digital platform for the promotion, enhancement and sale of contemporary art works.
FINALISTS’ EXHIBITION
The finalist artists selected by the international jury will participate in the important group exhibition, together with the finalist artists of the 18th edition, to be held in Venice, North Arsenal from November 16 to December 8, 2024.
All submitted works remain the property of the artists. Any artist may propose to donate his or her work to MoCA, which may accept the donation, committing to display it, after Venice, in art centers, palaces and public places, for the purpose of the artist’s continued promotion and sale.
The setting up and organization of the exhibition will be the responsibility of Arte Laguna srl and the MoCA Cultural Association. Transportation and shipping costs (round-trip), materials necessary for the installation of the finalist work (including any digital media) and any insurance of the works are the responsibility of the individual artists.
SPECIAL PRIZES
The Special Prizes are made in collaboration with high-level international partners who will each choose a winner to offer new career opportunities and visibility to the participating artists. The Special Prizes include collaborations with art galleries, art residencies, collaboration with companies, participation in art festivals.
Participation in the Special Prizes is free of charge for the artists who are correctly applied to Arte Laguna Prize 19.
Art Residencies
Hong Museum, Shanghai and Zhuji, China
Art residency from 1 to 3 months, in one of the Hong Museum’s residencies in China. The residency includes: accomodation in private or shared room, breakfast, lunch and dinner; use of private or shared spaces to work; studio with technical instruments such as printers, computers, oil and acrylics colors and others; participation in meetings/talks/events; final exhibition with public vernissage and promotion. One of the works created during the residency will remain property of the Hong Museum. The artist is responsible to organize, and pay for, the shipment of the other works created during the residency, unless different arrangements with the study staff to be made in advance.
Blackholes, Riga, Latvia
Art residency of 21 days in Rīga, Latvia at Totaldobže Art Centre. The Prize offers to the winning artist an interdisciplinary artistic creation together with other 5 artists from different countries through knowledge exchange, experiments and workshops. The outcome – new ideas for new artworks or events, possible long term collaboration.
The residency includes: accommodation in a private room, studio space, final event open to the local public.
Fabrica, Italy, Treviso
Art residency of maximum 6 months.
The Prize is aimed at artists and creatives under 25 working in photography, design, digital graphics, virtual art, video art. The residency includes: shared accommodation in the city of Treviso, Benetton company canteen from Monday to Friday, work space inside the rooms created by the architect Tadao Ando, use of all the facilities (library, video/music room, technical equipment included), free participation in events and workshops organized at Fabrica. The residency aims at experimenting with contemporary communication through the constant contamination between different disciplines.
Huacui Contemporary Art Museum, Shanghai and Sanya, China
Art Residency from 1 to 3 months at Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone, Sanya City, Hainan Province.
The residency includes: lodging in private or shared room, board, studio equipped with tools such as printers, computers, oil and acrylic paints, basic tools, participation in meetings/seminars/talks, final exhibition with public vernissage and promotion. One of the works created during the residency will remain the property of the partner. At the end of the residency, the artist will be responsible for arranging shipping of any additional works created, unless other arrangements have been made with studio staff in advance.
Now:Gallery Art Residency, Lima, Perù
Art residency from 1 to two months in Lima, Perù. The selected artist will be welcomed in a collaborative and supportive environment for international artists, with the aim to provide a space where artists can experiment, crate and share their art in an enriching country as Perù. The residency includes: accommodation, workspace with materials and tools, 1 month exhibition with the works realized during the residency, the opportunity to meet the gallery’s collectors, curators, agent and national press.
Taiwan Art Space Alliance, Taiwan
Art residency from 2 to 3 months taking place in different locations in Taiwan and in collaboration with members of Taiwan Art Space Alliance (TASA).
The Prize offers to the winning artist an opportunity to promote artistic creation through a constructive debate about East Asia and Europe. The residency includes: orientations, accommodation, and meals during the program period, and participation in the final exhibition.
MoCA Art Residency, Venice, Italy
Art Residency of 15 days in Venice and Treviso. The Prize offers to the winning artist the opportunity to experience the Venetian artistic and cultural scene. The Residency includes: accommodation, cultural visits, final exhibition.
BigCi, Bilpin, Australia
4 weeks residency. Included: accommodation, shared living facilities (bathroom, kitchen, internet, electricity, water), projection and video room, 8 acres of land for various activities, guided trekking in the Blue Mountains, Open Day Exhibition at the end of the residency, possibility to hold an art talk, make a performance, workshop or similar events, representation on the website and social of BigCi. The residency aims to help artists’ professional development and facilitating their projects.
NY20+, Chengdu, Sichuan, China
Art Residency for one or more artists, of 31 days, at Nongyuan Culture in Chengdu, Sichuan, China.
The residency includes: accommodation in furnished and equipped private or shared bedrooms, standard breakfast, lunch and dinner and use of private or shared studios/workspaces.
Palazzo Valmarana Braga, Vicenza, Italy
The Prize is especially aimed at photographers.
3-week residency at the historic spaces of Palazzo Valmarana Braga. Included are: accommodation in apartment with kitchen, food, cultural visits to city museums with the possibility of moving around by bicycle, introduction to city cultural activities, final exhibition of the realized photographic project.
The printing of the works for the final exhibition will be paid for by Palazzo Valmarana, which will remain the owner.
Azienda Mandranova, Agrigento, Italy
2-week art residency in June or July 2025, at the Mandranova company, Palma di Montechiaro (Agrigento), Italy.
The residency includes private accommodation, food, 150sqm studio, immersion in the local cultural scene. The residency includes a final exhibition with the works created, which will remain its property.
Business for Art
Bios Line, Padua, Italy
Cash prize of €5000 (tax included) for the winning work/project.
Participation requires the presentation of a site-specific installation suitable for outdoors, designed to identify the Bios Line company, that is visible from the street and enters into dialogue with the surrounding materials and architectural structure of the company. The material must be suitable for outdoors, and therefore the work must not be perishable. The design must be inspired by the company’s conceptual approach, which has always had a strong natural and eco-sustainable vocation.
The company will bear the cost of creating the work.
It is suggested to respect the 4-5mt height.
IMPORTANT: In the project, specify the type of basement needed, lighting, transportation, etc.

Festival & Exhibitions
Awaji Art Circus and Pasona Group, Awaji Island, Japan
Participation in Awaji Art Circus (AAC) 2025, international performing arts festival.
The participation is open to artists of different disciplines (performers, costume designers, scenery designers, video art creators and other professionals for the show production). More details here >
The prize includes: travel to Japan with working visa support, accomodation and food, participation in the activities of the festival programs, fee (the period of staying at the festival and the artistic fee will be discussed with selected artists, based on the artistic genre and discipline).
Sustainability and Art
Coreve, Milan, Italy
Prize of €3000 for a project or artwork that enchances the Glass.
Artists can present an artwork or specific project with Recycled Glass, enlighting the positive impact on nature and citizen’s life. Particularly, the prize requires works that can add value to the theme of Transformation of Materials in new resources to activate circular economies.
Biorepack, Milan, Italy
Prize of €4000 for a project or work supporting the sustainability and recycling of Bioplastics.
Artists may submit a specific work or project with the material Bioplastic, highlighting its life cycle, positive impact on nature and the lives of citizens. In particular, works are requested aimed at enhancing the transformative cycle of the material, which from waste becomes a new resource, for the activation of circular economies.
Art Galleries
Galleries will select an artist, or an artwork, between the finalists to be exhibited in their spaces.

ART. 5 – CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION
To apply to the competition it’s necessary to login to artelaguna.world web portal, create the reserved area, fill in the profile and pay the entry fee. The works to submit can be uploaded also later, until the final applications’ deadline July 31, 2024.
From the reserved area, artists can:
• submit the works for Arte Laguna Prize 19
• publish and sell works on Arte Laguna World

ENTRY FEES
• €97,6 for artists under 35 (born in 1989 and later);
• €122 for artists over 35 (born before 1989)
Artists under 35 must attach a copy of their ID when applying.
Prices indicated include tax. The fee allows to submit 5 works also in different sections. Each additional work, following the fifth, costs 24,40 € per work. Artists must keep a copy of the payment. The entry fee is not refundable.

ART. 6 – SELECTION PROCESS
The works will be evaluated taking into consideration the characteristics of contemporary international art and various artistic trends, according to qualitative criteria, research, and technical capabilities. The jury reserves the right to evaluate all submitted material.
The selections results will be announced online on the website www.artelagunaprize.com
The proclamation of the winners will take place during the opening of the finalist artists exhibition at the Arsenale Nord of Venice.
The decisions of the Awarding Juries are irrevocable and unquestionable.
ART. 7 – RESPONSIBILITIES
Arte Laguna srl and the Cultural Association MoCA, while guaranteeing the greatest care and custody of the works, will not be liable for any thefts, fires or any damages to the artworks or people that could occur during all the stages of the event. Any insurance is responsibility of the artists.
ART. 8 – AGREEMENT
The awarded artists have the right to renounce to the prizes, but without asking for any kind of compensation, in this case the prize will be re-assigned according to the ranking made by the jury. Each artist has the rights to the images and to the submitted works but gives to Arte Laguna srl and the Cultural Association MoCA, without any compensation, the rights of reproduction, exhibition, publication, translation and communication to the public, in any manner and without exception, for their works and for the texts participating in the selection. Each artist consents to the free publication of the images and texts in the online platform Arte Laguna World; however, artists can access the platform at any time and cancel their profile. Arte Laguna srl and the Cultural Association MoCA, while fully respecting the moral rights of the author, will exercise these rights for all institutional activities of communication concerning the competition. Each candidate gives to the Cultural Association MoCA, as well as to its direct representatives, the authorization to the treatment of personal data according to the privacy law and the European Regulation (GDPR 2016/679) and also for data entry into data banks managed by the subjects mentioned above and by third parties who pursue the same purposes.
