Descripción de la Exposición
ART COLOGNE 2022: Around 190 galleries and dealers in Cologne in November - prominent returnees and newcomers.
Benelux and the Rhineland: Galleries from Belgium and the Netherlands at ART COLOGNE.
New ART + OBJECT section with special show on Sofie Dawo's textile artworks.
ART COLOGNE will be launching a select programme in November 2022. From 16 to 20 November 2022, the 55th edition of the fair will present an equally high-calibre and broad range of artworks from selected galleries and dealers - from CONTEMPORARY ART to the NEUMARKT with young, innovative galleries, from MODERN and POST-WAR ART to the new ART + OBJECT sector. The exhibitors, carefully assembled by ART COLOGNE's ten-member advisory board, are united by one theme: quality. In addition to important international heavyweights such as Sprüth Magers - Monika Sprüth is also this year's ART COLOGNE prize recipient -, Thaddaeus Ropac, Karsten Greve, Hans Mayer, Michael Werner and nächst St. Stephan, re-exhibitors or newcomers also contribute to this. These include Albert Baronian, Ben Brown Fine Arts, Mehdi Chouakri, Max Hetzler, Rodolphe Janssen, who is also a new member of the advisory board, as well as Lelong and Kamel Mennour. With eight Belgian and seven Dutch galleries, the nearby Benelux countries form an important exhibition focus - proof of the close art ties between the Rhineland, Belgium and the Netherlands. For the first time, the Smith Davidson Gallery from Amsterdam will take part, presenting Australian Aboriginal Art, a theme not previously represented at the fair. This year, the fair is also building a bridge to Turkey, which will be represented by three galleries.
The 55th ART COLOGNE will once again occupy Hall 11 at Koelnmesse, but with a revised layout on all levels. Instead of a large central square at the entrance, four squares are distributed on each of the two exhibition floors. In hall 11.1, large-format sculptures will be exhibited on the squares.
On hall level 11.1, CONTEMPORARY ART meets MODERN and POST-WAR ART as well as the new sector ART + OBJECT, where high art intersects with applied art across the centuries.
Galleries and dealers specialising in MODERN and POST-WAR ART include Bastian, Derda, Henze & Ketterer & Triebold, Lahumière, Knoell, Eric Mouchet, Thomas Salis, Ludorff, von Vertes or W&K Wienerroither & Kohlbacher. They enter into dialogue with contemporary art represented by galleries such as von Achenbach Hagemeier, Anita Beckers, Judin, Lelong, Löhrl, M77, QG Gallery, Eduard Simoens, Slewe and Thoman.
The new ART + OBJECT sector is also located here. It presents an exciting journey through time from classical art and objects to non-European gems and examples of art and design from the 1960s. Exhibitors in this area include, for example, Dierking, meinweiss Sebastian Jacobi, who is also responsible for curating, Kirbach, VIVID, Floris Van Wanroij and Michael Woerner. Jochum Rodgers presents a special show here with works by textile artist Sofie Dawo.
On hall level 11.2, visitors will find the focus on CONTEMPORARY ART and the sectors NEUMARKT and COLLABORATIONS distributed over the four new squares. In addition to the galleries already mentioned, names such as Daniel Buchholz, Gisela Capitain, Eigen + Art, Bärbel Grässlin, König Galerie Carl Kostyál, Pearl Lam, Nagel Draxler, Neon Parc, Esther Schipper, Rüdiger Schöttle and Filomena Soares, to name but a few, will also be represented here.
Participating in the NEUMARKT sector are young galleries such as Efremidis, Berlin, Khoshbakht, Cologne; Office Impart, Berlin, Parliament, Paris, Temnikova & Kasela, Tallinn, The Pit, Los Angeles/Palm Springs, Umrian, Bratislava/Paris, Voloshyn, Kiev, and Wonnerth Dejaco, Vienna.
COLLABORATIONS are curated projects of up to two galleries that promote collaboration between galleries and/or artists. Guido. W. Baudach and Gregor Podnar, Galerie Clages and Damien & The Love Guru, Öktem Aykut and Philipp Zollinger, Soy Capitán and Sperling, Sakhile&Me, Sommer Contemporary and Sophie Van der Velde together with Plus-One present themselves in this sector, among others.
