Arigatou gozaimasu by Rosa Brugat (The Jonquera, 1956) is a work recorded during the artist’s sta in Japan and tells the costums, time and life of the geishas. In the words of the artist, this video “reminds us that beauty is ephemeral, and drives us to reflect on the role represented by maikos and geishas in Japan today. What role do they play in a country of contradictions, elegantly and extremely refined while cruel and sexist?
