Descripción de la Exposición Antonio López (1936-), one of the key artists in the contemporary Spanish art scene, expresses his own originality by pursuing realism through his exceptional technique and powers of observation. The film 'The Quince Tree Sun' (directed by Victor Erice), which depicts López himself painting a quince tree, was shown also in Japan and attracted quite a bit of attention. López is known for his slow production pace, which makes him very unprolific. In fact, he sometimes even touches up his works ten years after painting them. This first retrospective in Japan shows a selection of representative works that López has produced over a long time, from his early days as an art school student to recent years, in each of the genres of oil-painting, drawing and sculpture.
