Descripción de la Exposición

Galerie Lelong & Co. is pleased to announce the opening of Ana Mendieta: Blood Inside Outside at the Baltimore Museum of Art, on view through June 28, 2020. Recently acquired by the museum, Ana Mendieta’s 1975 film, Blood Inside Outside, demonstrates the pioneering artist’s exploration of the multiple layers of meaning ascribed to blood—blood for Mendieta was seen as a lifeforce and had ritualistic and religious connotations. This presentation of the film by the late artist (Cuban-American, 1948-1985) is accompanied by photographs from the artist’s Body Tracks series as well as her elegant drawings of abstracted outlines of paleolithic goddesses, repeatedly inscribed on a variety of surfaces, from an actual leaf to ancient Mexican bark paper known as amate. This exhibition is curated by Leslie Cozzi, Associate Curator of Prints, Drawings & Photographs.
