Descripción de la Exposición
Americas Society’s new Flag Series presents public artworks on the building facade of 68th Street. The inaugural flag, Amarica: Todas invertidas by Esvin Alarcón Lam (b. Guatemala, 1988), combines all national flags from Latin America and the Caribbean washed in pink. The work’s title references Uruguayan artist Joaquín Torres García’s iconic drawing of the Americas that subverts notions of center and periphery. Alarcón Lam’s version reunites the whole continent through a new “inversion,” and employs the color pink to highlight LGBT+ pride and activism.
