Descripción de la Exposición Elena Bajo's site specific works ensue from an intuitive reading of each new given situation (in a post-situasionist spirit), in wich mediums such as installation, sculpture, painting, performance, participatory events and film are found as tactical resonances. Her performative practice plays with the contingency of the present moment, embodying intrinsic factors such as chance and ubiquity. In one work showned in D+T Project Gallery in 2010 small shards of glass are propped against a gallery wall; their cool tones and repetition of form have an icy elegance that articulates an anarchic brand of Minimalism with modest proportions. Elena Bajo's work was displayed for the first time in Belgium, in November 2010, at D+T Project Gallery, with her exhibition The Object of a Movement. Is Music the essence of Words? In October 2011, D+T Project was short-listed for the FRAME section at FRIEZE, with a solo show of Elena Bajo -The Pervasive Element- wich impressed by its radicality. In January 2011, at Muhka in Antwerp, she took part in a series of performance -Love Letter to a Surrogate, Stage 2- wich was curated by Warren Neidich. From November 2011 to January 2012, she offered a piece to Extracity (Antwerp) for the exhibition curated by Pieter Vermeulen, Uncommonplaces. While her second exhibition - Reconstructing of the Common - is taking place at D+T Project gallery (Opening on May 24th), her journey in Belgium doesn't end here. Elena Bajo is thus involved in Manifesta 9 Parallel Events (Genk) with three exhibitions on the program: Manifesta's main site, entitled The Factory of Forms, and the two others at Jan Van Eyck Academy in Maastricht and Onomatopée in Eindhoven. From 11 June to 13 June, for the Liste Basel Art Fair, Elena Bajo will also participate in the program of performances curated by Burkhard Meltzer.
