Descripción de la Exposición

Reflecting his interest in architecture, anthropology, mapping and language, artist Marco Maggi (Uruguay, b. 1957) is best known for his use of common materials such as Plexiglas, Reynolds aluminum foil, Macintosh apples and paper and cardboard in standard formats. Maggi inscribes on these objects micro-landscapes of saturation, with the objective of inviting people to stop and contemplate detail, as we are constantly flooded with information that we have ceased to understand. He often resorts to word play in his work and titles due to his interest on language and signs that allow different conclusions and meanings. The title of the exhibition, no idea, invites each viewer to decide what to understand after experiencing it?a challenge to lower speed and distance and contemplate. Maggi s Project Room consists of various works including architectural plans of museums by architects such as Frank Lloyd Wright and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe in acrylic boxes - a paradox of infinite layers due to the fact that 4 museums are under the roof of another museum. The titles of this series of works reference the media mogul and founder of CNN Robert Edward Ted Turner. A floor piece comprised of a grid of reams of a total of 128,000 sheets of paper is the central installation of the Project Room. This grid of paper reams is a sort of city that rises from the floor, defying the two-dimensionality of architectural plans, creating a place with different rules about the notion time and scale.
