Descripción del Artista
Pedro Vaz (b. 1977) is a Contemporary Portuguese artist.
His work focuses subjects connected with nature and natural landscape where he uses painting, video and art installations to express his relationship with the places he visits (and often long expeditions). This strong connection and involvement he has with nature has allowed him to research about ancestral separation between Nature and Human being, in a digital, industrial and urban times.
In the last decade, he has developed expeditions and art residencies in remote natural locations, such as the large Transpirenaic Route GR11 (Spain); the Tour du Mont-Blanc (France, Italy, Switzerland); the Superstition Mountains (Phoenix, USA); Caminho do Ouro (Brazil); and even to the Amazon Forest (Brazil)
His works has been shown mainly in Europe, South America and USA – both in art galleries, museums and biennials, in a total of 33 solo exhibition and 50 group shows over the last 15 years.
His work is part of eight museum art collections: MAAT - Fundação EDP, in Lisbon; Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, CAM, in Lisbon; Carmona e Costa Foundation, in Lisbon; CAC Málaga Art Center, in Malaga; PLMJ Foundation, in Lisbon among others.
