Pedro Neves Marques (nacido en 1984 en Lisboa, vive y trabaja en Nueva York) es un artista visual, cineasta y escritor que trabaja con la ficción y la teoría. De tono especulativo, teje un diálogo entre la antropología, la ecología, las ideas de futuro y una crítica de la posthumanidad occidental. Entre otros centros, ha expuesto en la Tate Modern de Londres; la Kadist Art Foundation, París; la Fundación V-A-C, Venecia; el Museu Coleçao Berardo, Lisboa; el Museo de Arte Sursock, Beirut; e-flux y en el Sculpture Center, Nueva York. Es el editor de la antología sobre antropofagia The Forest and the School: Where to sit at the dinner table? (2015), y más recientemente, publicó como autor el libro de ficción Morrer na América (2017).

He has exhibited in art venues such as Museu Colecção Berardo (Lisbon), Contour8 Biennial (Mechelen), PAV (Turin), Sursock Art Museum (Beirut), Kadist Art Foundation (Paris), e-flux (with Mariana Silva) (New York), Casa do Povo (São Paulo), 12th Cuenca Biennial (Cuenca, Ecuador), Sculpture Center (New York), Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts (New York, USA), EDP Foundation (with André Romão) (Lisbon), or Serralves Museum for Contemporary Art, as well as in art galleries such as Galleria Umberto di Marino (Naples), Pedro Cera (Lisbon) and Gallerie Martin Janda (Vienna).
His first short-fiction film, Semente Exterminadora [Exterminator Seed], produced by Capivara Filmes (Brazil) and Curtas Metragens - CRL (Portugal), premiered at IndieLisboa Film Festival in 2017. His short-film essay Where to Sit at the Dinner Table? premiered at DocLisboa International Film Festival 2013, and has screened on several venues, including online with a discussion with the Brazilian architect Paulo Tavares at www.vdrome.org in 2014.
He was a resident at Triangle Arts Residency New York in 2016-2017; Zentrum Paul Klee's Sommerakademie, Bern, Switzerland, in 2012 (coordinated by Jan Verwoert); and at Antonio Ratti Foundation, Como, Italy in 2009 (coordinated by Walid Raad).
Together with fellow artist Mariana Silva he runs inhabitants, an online channel for exploratory video and documentary reporting.

He is the editor of the book The Forest and the School/ Where to Sit at the Dinner Table? (Berlin and Cologne: Archive Books and the Akademie der Kunste der Welt - Koln, 2015), an anthology on Antropofagia (literally, cannibalism) read through the lens of anthropology in Brazil. It spans from 16th century missionary chronicles, the modernist avant-garde anthropophagic movement, and Amerindian cosmologies and perspectivist anthropology in Brazil. The book also gathers recent and newly commissioned essays by Brazilian authors, rethinking Antropofagia as a South American cosmopolitical philosophy proper. Texts by Eduardo Viveiros de Castro, Alexandre Nodari, Jean Tible, Suely Rolnik, Tânia Stolze Lima, Giuseppe Cocco, Paulo Tavares, along with Oswald de Andrade, Flávio de Carvalho, Pierre Clastres, Félix Guattari, Raul Bopp, Bruno Latour, Montaigne, Hans Staden, James Frazer, Hélene Clastres, and Davi Kopenawa. He was a guest-editor for e-flux #65, the Supercommunity issue, for the Venice Art Biennial in 2015, on the theme of "Apocalypsis," and has written for many magazines and publications.
He is the author of two books of short-stories: Morrer na América (Abysmo Editora and Kunsthalle Lissabon, 2017) and The Integration Process/ O processo de integração (Atlas Projectos, 2012). In his spare time he is finishing his first novel involving a set of masks from the extict Amazonian tribe, Jurupixuna; industrial infrastructure in Brazil; artificial life; and above all an anthropologist's depression.
